2006-08-05 [Duredhel]: Update- Some parties need names! In adittion to this, I have started a "Leader" system for the parties. Party Leaders are the ones I consider are RPing the best in the interest of building up the story and establishing inter-party or inter-character dynamics. Peple who have their characters sentimentally involved with other characters within the party (could be love or hate), who post frequently, who avoid one-liners, help develop and advance the story,and get their characters involved in the storyline are candidates for party leaders. Party leaders have three main bonuses, 1, they gain more experience from fights. 2, if a character remains party leader for a while, his player gets a "Party Leader" badge and a full body drawing of his char. And last, but not least, for each party leader he plays, a player can grant one of his RoLA characters, if any, a Party Leader badge which increases the experience and GP that character earns from fights. If the RoL character stops being Party Leader, the RoLA char loses the badge.

So, I'm coming back, I'm borrowing a comp and have the time again to start working on RoL, RoLA will continue running as always, but RoL will go through a BIG change. Here's what's gonna happen, I'm going to close the parties that are being GMed by myself (maybe I'll keep one). From now on, here's how its gonna work, people will be in charge of organizing their own parties. Whenever people want to make a party, they need to gather a minimum of 3 players and a GM (anyone can be the GM). Then they just need to get in touch with me and I'll make a wiki for them. Their GM can ask me for any information, materials and stuff he wants, but other than that I will stay out of the party (besides moderating it a bit). Parties without a GM can ask someone to GM (including me) but the person they ask has the right to refuse.

First off, some people might have thought RoL had died or somesuch, it did not, I announced the hiatus, in any case its likely those people are not logging into elftown much these days, so if you know anyone like that, let them know RoL is back on (in person, phone, email, something!), I'd rather avoid mass dropage if possible, I'll also PM every single player to let them know. Second, I will NOT be dropping the parties as I had originally stated, for one the reaction here was not very favourable, so I spoke with Grengo and decided I'll keep the parties as they've been going, but I'll give players the option to form they're own parties whenever they want and appoint they're own GMs.

Third and this is IMPORTANT, RoL and RoLA need new blood, and badly. So for the next 3 months (might extend it if this works out well), everyone will get 500 XP for a RoLA character for each new player they bring in (after the new player has created an adecuate character and undergone a one week test period, that is). So you can mass level up your character by advertising RoL!!

However, you have to wait for a slot to open up in one of the parties that are listed on Characters of the Realms. When a slot opens you make a character and message the character's sheet, also available at Characters of the Realms, to the party's GM (or moderator). This is usually [Duredhel], but there are several trainee GMs such as [Veltzeh] who have their own party/ies. The name of the party's GM is, once again, available at Characters of the Realms.

But then I started thinking about all the characters and cool storylines and ideas I still have for this place and decided to keep it open. Right now unfortunately I'm horribly swamped, I'm getting a job, going to university in Peru, looking for scolarships and taking classes. So I need some time to work my schedule. SO here's how its going to go. I need to know who is still interested in RoL, a big problem is all the dropouts in the RP. So I'll wait till March 10th. Anyone who has sent me a message saying they want to stay in RoL and RoLA till then, stay, anyone who hasn't, is dropped. Also, I'm going to organize a small team to train in all RoL related, if you're interested in it, lemme know.

2007-04-01 [Duredhel]: You guys remember when i said I'd take suggestions & then make a decision? yeah.. that was fun. Seems as if you guys already decided. Well, this is how it'll go. The arena will work as you guys are saying, you guys will form a council to make the big decisions (tournaments, xp awards, etc, etc)& area will be assigned to someone (that person doesn't have to be in the council). For RoL, people who want to play will get together regardless of number & they'll pick a GM from amongst  themselves, then they'll add their party to Forth to Lemire and Characters of the Realms.
I'll give the people in the council & the GMs for the parties my email, AIM & msn so they can contact me if they need any information, materials or help.

I'll still be dropping in every now and then to update the rules, bestiary, etc, little by little. I'm not abandoning RoL, I just can't GM anymore.

So, here's the deal, I'll work on the rule aspect, but I need spell with two things, spell icons and spell descriptions. I'll pay 10 GP for each spell icon (kinda like WC3 style icons for spells and special skills) and from 5 to 10 GP for spell decriptions, depending on how good they are. 2008-02-12 [xido]: For those of you who have been long-time members of the WFR, please note that I appreciate your commitments, and of course for the love of the game and for fiction fans everywhere.

I have long considered Lemire one project from one of the WFR Guild Members that has independently held its own success and reputation.

Because of that, I would like to nominate [Duredhel] to become a WFR Guild Knight and Council Member, and for all of his friends and players to be immediately granted WFR Membership in 2008, no strings attached. All players may create, copy, post, or integrate their characters, settings, games, and other material to their own Guild Member page.

If there are any questions, concern, or oppositions to this move, I would like to know. For those of you who have known Dur over the years, would you say this is a good choice for us?

2008-02-13 [Blood Raven]: I've been a member of the WFR Guild for quite some years. I had been a member for two years maybe before joining Lemire. Basicly, it started out as a roleplay wiki which had several setting in which GMs were free to run their own games, as long as the PCs in it had a character page in the WFR main page. Over the years, it grew out to become something of an oversight page, adding all sorts of other Roleplay wikis to its index, as long as the level of roleplay was good enough. So basicly, it's a big guild for all sorts of roleplay. Right now, [xido] is trying to expand it to a more professional level, so that people outside of ET might also benefit of online roleplaying. Lemire has been added in the WFR's records some time ago, I believe. For RoL, it hasn't been all that much of a change. The WFR doesn't impose any rules on the wikis it supports, so for us, it was just another page where people could find a neat link to our pages and become addicted as well :)
